STANLEY Access Technologies Donates Durable Swing Door Operators to Improve Accessibility at Hungerford Nature Center
STANLEY Access Technologies supported a local accessibility effort at the Hungerford Nature Center in New Britain, CT by donating two M-Force™ LE swing door operators to automate one leaf of each of the center’s double swing doors.
One operator was installed at the main entry and the other at the exit to the outdoor animal exhibit — small but practical upgrades that make the center more welcoming and easier to navigate for visitors of varying abilities. A key benefit of the M-Force™ LE is its easy installation process. The operators were mounted on the existing manual doors, and within a few hours, the doors were fully automatic and activated by a push button. This quick, low-impact upgrade allowed the center to boost accessibility without major renovations or extended downtime.
Hungerford Nature Center is already on an accessibility journey, working to remove barriers so guests — from young children and parents with strollers to older adults using assistive devices and people with mobility limitations — can fully enjoy trails, exhibits, and programs. Beyond the door automation, the center was considering additional measures like language access, visual wayfinding, and improved pathways to ensure a welcoming experience for everyone.
