We are looking at the Dura
By Brad Root/m+a Architects on 01/23/2020
We are looking at the Dura-Glide 5200/5300 Bi-Part 6-Panel Telescoping Automatic Door for a project. On your website, the first thing I came across said the minimum width for the Bi-Part doors was 10'-0" but in the specificaitons, it says it starts at 7'-0" wide. Is the 7'-0" minimum width correct? We are looking for larger, but don't have room for 10'-0". Tried the Revit family and it doesn't want to change sizes either. Thanks, Brad

    Commonly asked questions

Do you have a two-panel slider with a emergency breakout panel?
    Asked by Gruen on 10/07/2019
    + Answer this question
The Dura-Glide 5200/5300 telescoping doors are 3 panel doors. The 5200 Series features partial breakout, where 1 panel breaks out for emergency egress, while the 5300 Series features full breakout where all 3 panels breakout. If you are looking for a 2-panel door with breakout, you may consider our Dura-Glide 2000/3000 sliding doors which feature emergency breakout for 2 panels.

What is the approximate U value of a 5200 door and frame with 1" insulated glazing?
    Asked by on 08/08/2019
    + Answer this question
The U-Value is a specific function of the thermal properties of the glass and aluminum used, and the relationship of the glass and aluminum (configuration). Because every door we make is custom, without knowing the precise configuration of the door (size, stiles, rails, muntins, transoms, and glass properties) we cannot estimate the U-Value for the door. We have additional information on U-Factor on our website:

In a power failure without a UPS, can people get through the door or will we need a separate man door for emergency ingress?
Asked by Ames & Whitaker Architects on 04/15/2019
    + Answer this question
It depends. All of our door systems have an integrated means of egress feature. On the 5300 all panels breakout for egress. On the 5200 only the lead panel breaks out for egress. If either of these options are short of providing the design egress width for the project, then additional doors are required.
